Valley and Escarpment
The same airspace as the sphere, opened into one long frame: shore, outlet, escarpment and Lake Superior in a single sweep.

Field note · Lake of the Clouds
One long look across the valley.
A flat panorama trades the sphere’s freedom for continuity. Instead of turning inside the scene, you travel along it, and the whole valley unrolls as one horizontal line: the near shore, the outlet where the Carp River leaves the lake, the escarpment’s bare rock, and Lake Superior stretching across the far horizon.
The horizon bends because a very wide field of view has been laid onto a flat rectangle. That curve is a trace of the projection, not of the terrain. Pair it with the sphere taken over the same water to see the difference between traveling along a view and standing inside one.
