From boreal landscapes and simulated civilizations to information models, fabrication, contemplative practice, and machine-assisted creativity.
I am a multidisciplinary designer from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. My work moves between the technical and the intuitive: measuring what exists, modeling how its parts relate, and translating that understanding into drawings, objects, images, publications, websites, and research environments.

01Boreal origins
The Upper Peninsula as first teacher.
Born and raised in the tranquil Upper Peninsula of Michigan, I grew up close to the rhythms of rural life. Vast landscapes, inland lakes, working forests, long winters, changing light, and the coexistence of flora and fauna cultivated an enduring respect for the natural world—not as scenery, but as a living field of relationships.
That immersion trained my attention on patterns: how form responds to climate, how organisms occupy a niche, how a shoreline records movement, and how apparently small changes alter a larger balance. Nature remains my most persistent teacher, encouraging close observation, patience, and respect for complexity before intervention.

02Systems through play
Sandbox worlds became early laboratories.
I came of age alongside the home-computer era, beginning with home-building programs and moving toward increasingly complex city and civilization simulators. SimCity and Sid Meier’s Civilization left the deepest impression. Their digital landscapes were not merely pastimes; they were miniature research environments where infrastructure, ecology, economy, culture, resources, and time continuously affected one another.
Through play, I learned to watch cause and effect travel through a system. Building required orchestration. Diversity created resilience. Every intervention produced consequences, some immediate and others delayed. Those simulated societies helped form the same habit I value in design today: understand the whole well enough to make a responsible change to one of its parts.

03Computer-aided design
Precision became a creative language.
My formal relationship with CAD began in high school through an intensive three-year sequence guided by an instructor I remember affectionately as “Master Lebeauda.” That training established the foundations of drafting, spatial reasoning, dimensional discipline, and digital problem-solving while revealing how much creative possibility can exist inside a precise technical system.
I continued into engineering graphics technology at Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo Valley Community College, earning professional CAD-technician certifications. Practical work with engineers, architects, fabricators, builders, and other innovative minds then widened the education: construction documents, information models, architectural visualization, product development, digital fabrication, graphics, publications, websites, and the coordination required to move ideas toward reality.

04A comprehensivist education
The education continued beyond the institution.
I ultimately chose not to complete a conventional four-year degree. The decision was not a rejection of rigor, but a recognition that my strongest learning happens through direct application, self-directed research, collaboration, and movement across disciplines. Professional practice and the expanding resources of the information age allowed me to construct a more personalized education around the problems directly in front of me.
Buckminster Fuller’s critique of overspecialization gave language to this inclination. His idea of comprehensivism—a commitment to understanding interacting systems rather than remaining confined to one narrow domain—aligned with my natural curiosity. The digital world became an open library through which I could compare design, engineering, history, cultural traditions, mythology, philosophy, and the classical liberal arts.

05Interior disciplines
Analytic precision met contemplative attention.
My study gradually extended from outward systems toward the interior landscape. Yoga, meditation, sacred geometry, comparative mythology, Eastern philosophy, esoteric traditions, and encounters with Indigenous and shamanic perspectives provided different languages for attention, balance, transformation, and interdependence. I approach these traditions as a learner, recognizing their distinct histories rather than collapsing them into a single doctrine.
These practices complemented the analytic habits of technical design. They encouraged stillness before action, direct observation of thought, and a more careful distinction between experience, interpretation, metaphor, and evidence. They also sharpened a question that runs through Infinity Envisioned: how might the practical, intellectual, artistic, and contemplative dimensions of life be brought into a more coherent relationship?
This perspective also informs my critique of contemporary culture. I am concerned by systems that monetize distraction, externalize self-worth, and reward speed over depth. Rather than presenting one universal diagnosis, my work asks how stronger practices of attention, media literacy, creative agency, and genuine human connection might produce healthier alternatives.

06The machine-intelligence era
A new instrument for comparison, expression, and access.
The arrival of generative artificial intelligence opened another chapter in this path. I see language and image models as general creative instruments: tools that can support research, organize information, compare alternatives, accelerate iteration, and help people articulate ideas that previously remained beyond their available time, training, or production resources. The core In’Spire manuscripts predate generative AI; today’s tools help audit, organize, visualize, and publish that earlier body of work rather than inventing its premise.
Nagy Design and Infinity Envisioned are active experiments in that collaboration. Machine intelligence assists with drafting, coding, visualization, editing, information synthesis, and the construction of interactive research environments. Human judgment remains responsible for the premise, the source quality, the design decisions, and the final meaning. Used carefully, these tools do more than increase output; they can lower barriers to participation and give more people a capable digital pen.
I remain interested in both sides of that transformation: its extraordinary creative potential and its demands for evidence literacy, transparency, attribution, restraint, and ethical use. The goal is not automation for its own sake. It is a more inclusive and imaginative design culture in which technology extends—not replaces—attention, craft, responsibility, and human agency.
